This place is authentic! The staff is friendly and loves when you try to converse with them in Spanish, they're complemented me everytime I've gone and help me learn new words. The atmosphere is relaxing and is filled comforting colors. The food is absolutely amazing! And the prices aren't bad.

I don't get down to Glen Burnie often, and decided to stop here since I was shopping nearby and it had solid ratings on Yelp. Have to repeat what a number of my fellow reviewers have stated: Service: Outstanding! Seated quickly, and the various staff that served me were attentive throughout. I was asked if I wanted my chips and salsa refilled not once, buy twice, by two different staffers. All of those who assisted me were polite, and overall the service was what stood out the most to me. Menu: Vast, albeit somewhat repetitive in nature. Still, lots and lots of choices. Choice is good! Chips and Salsa: Chips nice and crunchy, but salsa very bland and too tomatoish for my taste. I should have asked for tomatillo salsa in lieu of the tomato-based stuff they serve. Oh, and contrary to one of the past reviews, there is no restriction on who gets free chips and salsa... you don't need to order x dollars worth of food to get it. Mine was served well before I selected my food. I ended up opting for the carnita soft tacos (tacos de carnitas). There were three, and the pork was well cooked and retained the proper taste, without much seasoning. And that's fine by me, as I like to taste the main ingredient. It was also plentiful, to the point that it was impossible to eat the tacos without chunks of pork falling out. The tacos were accompanied by small containers of tomatillo sauce and pico de gallo, and when added they contributed a kick that had me sweating from the solid level of heat that they brought! The meal came with a side of refried beans with cheese on top, and they were fine. Prices were fair enough, particularly since you're not going to go home hungry. In the end, PG earns 4 stars for its solid Mexican food and terrific service.

Location: RIGHT off of 100, directly across from Marley Station Mall. This place appeared closed to me and since there are no lights on the outside indicating otherwise, I had yet to check it out. I have been working right down the street from it for over a year. I discovered it was open, alive, and well when I was invited to a business lunch here last week. I was impressed. The menu is LARGE (almost more of a con than a pro... many, many options, some items are just one ingredient different from the previous), the portions are LARGE, and the sitting area is pretty large, too. We had a party of 9, were seated quickly (we made a reservation), served quickly, and all the food came out correctly. The food was delicious, from the stuffed jalepinos to the quesadilla to the fajitas. I would definitely recommend this for a family dinner, business lunch, or any other occasion. It was quiet enough to talk and the service was good. I am happy. Priced fairly too. Typical Mexican-fare atmosphere and clean.

I ordered an entree that has burnt beans. My husbands tacos for Taco Tuesday were bland. My enchiladas were bland. I only have a 3 star because the service was good.

  • Elizabeth S.

Maybe the saltiest meal ever. Wanted a fish taco, but since the menu said it was served with lettuce & pico de gallo so I knew that wasn't gonna be good. Ordered the taco + enchilada lunch combo. Inedibly salty. Good salsa though!

Disappointed. Too $$$ for the quality. 2 Fajitas 2 soft drinks and 1 cheese dip. The steak fajitas were overcooked. My fajita texaxanas included steak, chicken and shrimp, and they left the tails on the shrimp. So overcooked it was horrible. Going to look for a better place for Mexican. Sigh. No free refills on soft drinks either.

Went there for lunch. Specials were reasonably priced and tasted fresh. The owner's grandson waited on me and we had a great conversation. If you think that "real mexican food should be greasy go somewhere else. Try the enchiladas in mole saiuse. As a native Californian o do knowexican food !

Came here last night with my boyfriend since Mi Pueblo was way to crowded I ordered the same dish as I got at mi Pueblo and it was just OK wasn't as seasoned as there's the steak was a bit tough and I didn't have enough chicken the shrimp still had the tail on so before I could fix my fajita I had to remove it my boyfriend got the same boring beef tacos. The salsa was good but a bit spicier .I as packed my food to go and nibbled more I did get more seasoning wish i could there but the service was good and friendly and they kept checking. I would back though if mi Pueblo is crowed.

The food was good for the most part. A little spicy and salty for my taste but my family loved it!

Always great. Have not been here in years and the food and atmosphere are just as I remember. Good food and nice people. I really enjoyed the pork fajitas but it was enough to feed two!!! Prices are reasonable. The service is usually pretty fast.

My wife delivers mail here and kept talking about how wonderful it smelled. I was wary, seeing as it was in Glen Burnie, but the reviews were good so we decided to give it a try. That was probably the best decision of the night! The food here is excellent, and I've eaten everything from Tex Mex to real New Mexican cuisine. The major factor was that you could actually taste the flavor of the ingredients, as opposed to the over-salted nonsense you get at major Mexican chains. My wife had a seafood burrito that was huge whereas I ate some very nice chimichangas. Even our picky two-year old couldn't get enough of a quesadilla made with queso fresco. The decor was nice, reminding me of some places in Albuquerque that I ate at. The servers were friendly and attentive, and the manager (owner?) even stopped by to talk. The staff and clientele also made it clear, this is more authentic and not some cheap, corporate fare! So, if you're in Glen Burnie (sorry if you are) but looking for some good Mexican, then I cannot recommend Plaza Garibaldi higher!

**3 1/2 stars So this place has decent food. It's definitely not authentic.. It's the typical "American/spanish" chain food type that seems to be all over Maryland. The food came out fast, although if your orders not over $15 dollars you won't get chips and salsa. I was bummed so I paid for chips and salsa, but it tasted sweet.. Like tomato paste with sugar and maybe a few spices. Customer service was good, and that's probably why I'd be willing to go again if I needed Mexican food on the go!

I've taken out here once and eaten in once. The location is super convenient. Right off 100 and across from Marley Station Mall. The lobby is super small but there's plenty of seating once inside. I tried the California burrito and the chicken fajitas. Everything was good. I'd say that the fajita was better but I'm a little biased as I'm allergic to wheat so the burrito needed to be unwrapped in order for me to gorge. Portions are huge. I got really excited about the homemade chips and salsa but they aren't that great. The chips were fine but the salsa is mild and very tomato-y almost like tomato sauce. Tried the raspberry margarita while eating in and that was yummy. Service was just so-so. I believe the owner generally works the cashier and he is very nice. Always asks how everything was, etc. Almost like an exit survey. Ill be back for more!

Worth the drive from Columbia! Today my 5 month search for a Mexican restaurant came to an end. Plaza Garibaldi will be my go to spot for Mexican food. Everyone was very friendly and the service impeccable. The food was exactly what I had come to expect BEFORE moving to (Maryland) or as I had called it....the wasteland. I enjoyed the chicken nachos and my husband had the chimichangas. Both were delicious. The pico had a nice kick and our chips (free w/salsa) were fresh. I can't wait to come back.

We love coming here as often as we can for the excellent Mexican cuisine. They are not too crowded during the week. Good food and inexpensive - what more could you want? I love the carnitas. The chili relleno is excellent as well.

Enjoyed it! Good food. Large portions. Very reasonable prices. Will visit again.

  • Jessica N.

I LOVE this restaurant. Their food is so good. I recommend the 'California burrito.' It feels like authentic Mexican food. The free chips & salsa is also AMAZING!!! They keep this coming throughout your whole meal if you want. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is because the service isn't always that great. Sometimes you may be sitting there waiting on a drink for a while. However, the servers do make up for it by carrying your entire table's food on one arm!! That is pretty great to see!! :) So, if you want some fab Mexican food, this is the place for you... Just ration your drink if you get something spicy ;) A side note: the server did apologize for not having my drink for a while.

One of my favorite local places. Good Mexican food, reasonable prices, good service, nice people.

  • Brian F.

Definition of 'average'... nothing about this place is 5 star. Most dishes we've had were 3 star. Tamales have toooo much Mazza and little filling. The ground beef was SOOOO salty it was inedible. Wife's fajitas were again... average. Good size, but beef was dry, chicken over cooked, and shrimp were plentiful but small. Rather have 3-4 larger shimp, than 7-8 tiny ones. Service was slow but it was a busy Saturday night. Based on our experiences we can not recommend. Probably won't be back.

  • Alena R.

The service was awful. For a Friday night they were not busy. Took 15 mins to get a waiter for drinks. Ordered bean dip as an appetizer, it never came. After finishing our meals it took 20 mins for our waiter to come for the check. Oh and never got any refills on our drinks. The only positive was the young boy running the food was great!

    (1)
  • William S.

Terrible. Margaritas were made with mostly mix. Chips and salsa were stale and gross. Queso fundito was terrible. I'd rather have Tostitos salsa. Wife had fajitas that were mediocre. Carne asada was meh. Taco Bell is better. Anyone who thinks this is good Mexican needs to have their head checked.

  • Nicole P.

My first time visiting. I got take out and sampled a little of everything. The steak in the fajita's and the quesadilla's was delicious and fresh. The fried chicken chimichanga's were exceptional. Refried beans tasted authentic an great to use with their hot crispy chips. The hard tacos were soggy because if the container made the beans run together, but tasted ok. All the food was fresh and hot when I picked up dinner. Staff was very friendly and the margaritas were nice and strong. I will definitely be visiting again soon!

  • Antonio C.

Great fajitas! Lunch portion is the size of dinner portions elsewhere. Guacomole is very good also. Service was a little slow but it may have been an off day so I didn't dock them a star.

  • Jordan K.

This is pretty damn good Mexican food! Being from SoCal this hit the spot with the carne asada tacos! We arrived on a Friday night 30 minutes from closing. We got seated quickly and the servers were very friendly. They came out with the chips and salsa, which we devoured right away. They brought us another basket while we waited for our entrees. My buddy had the fajitas and all our food came out piping hot within 10 minutes from ordering. Overall wonderful experience and I will come back again to try some other dishes!

  • Tim M.

Went back here after moving away. Very good as years before! So very much wish they had a sister restaurant in Las Vegas. The green chili burrito was most excellent. Tamales were also most excellent. The only reason they didn't get 5* was because the expensive jumbo margarita wasn't really a jumbo and it was watered down. Get the drinks to match the food and it's a 5* place!

I see lots of favorable reviews about this place and I feel as if I've been bamboozled, hoodwinked, led astray, run amuck! I am astonished that many of the reviewers gave this place 4 & 5 Stars. The food was very, very, very bland! It's was NOT prepared with any authentic mexican flavors! What happened to the spices? Where was the cumin? Chilli powder? Oregano? Poblano and chipotle peppers? What about something as basic as salt? The salsa and chips were okay - but NOT authentic. More like a warmed-up bag of Tostitos Tortilla Chips and a bowl of Pace Salsa. I ordered steak fajitas, which consisted of these tiny slivers of cheap meat -- not the flank, or skirt steak that I was accustomed to. And the meat was buried in a mountain of green peppers. And there were no grilled flavors to the meat or veggies. The dish tasted like something I could have made at home in my kitchen. In fact it just tasted like fried beef with green peppers and onions - a very American flavor. My dinning companion thought her plate was awful as well. The only redeeming quality of this place was the wait staff! This is why I at least gave the place 2 Stars! Excellent, attentive service! It appeared that they shared their duties, because we had 4-5 different people come over to our table to wait on us at different times. Very friendly and accommodating folks. I don't think I'll ever return but not because of the people....but because of the less than mediocre food! Maybe I went on a night where the regular chef called out sick or something.

This is one of our go to mexican places. If you go a little early or a little late then you don't have to worry about waiting for a table. Height of the dinner rush? Be ready to stand and wait in the tiny lobby. I've never been disappointed in the food. Fajitas are plentiful. Quesadillas are good. Enchiladas all very good. The hubs wishes the salsa was a little spicier but I enjoy it as is. The only down side comes on the service side. I always ask for shredded cheese for my fajitas and the hubs wants hot sauce. Every time we ask, it's like it's a hardship to get it. That's annoying. But not enough to keep us from going back.

  • Ian D.

They have decent mexican food here. The fajitas are good. I am not a fan of the tacos or guac here. Atmosphere is not bad but nothing exciting. They do have a a ok happy hour but it's just drink specials like 2 for 1 coronas and cheaper margaritas. But overall not bad

We love eating at Plaza Garibaldi :) It is a very comfortable Mexican Restaurant located conveniently on Ritchie Highway. Dinner is not too crowded if you beat the rush. The booths are very large and comfortable. The food is amazing and the drinks are cool and refreshing. During Happy Hour drinks are cheap and it is usually not too busy. Whenever we go we get a ton of food for a great price and I always have leftovers. Check out Plaza Garibaldi for great Mexican food with a short wait.

I have been coming here since I moved to the area in 2001. They have always been my go to Mexican food! There simply was none better. Living in Annapolis, I pass a ton of place a I've tried but never compare! From their in house chips and salsa which are served free like bread at most restaurants. Add some of their cheese sauce or guacamole and omg! And that's before ordering anything!!!! Fajitas are always sizzling and amazing! The chimichangas are great! One of my favorites! What I am trying to say, you can't order anything from here and be disappointed! I am not a drinker but the margaritas fly out of the bar! It's a small place but to me just makes it feel that much more authentic because that is exactly what it is!

Their salsa and chips are amazing. Mom and pop restaurants are the best and this one did not disappoint. I'm a simple girl I will say, chicken quesadillas with free chips and salsa and I'm a happy camper. Their churros were yummy and Margherita were strong. I have been a couple times now and this is my new Mexican staple. Nice decor, wait staff is great. They are very busy at night so make ur self known if u need a refill or u might be waiting a while. So good, I'm craving their chips and salsa now just talking about it.

This is an area staple that I can actually stand behind. It's been here since I can remember, and the consistent thing I remember about it that's lasted throughout the years is that it's always packed in the evenings. I'd always wanted to try it out, but I didn't go for the first time until a few months ago. If you like authentic Mexican food, look no further. Everything is fresh and flavorful, even something as simple as the tacos are impressive. The people I go with tend to get other seemingly simple items such as enchiladas and burritos, but the portions are generous and very aesthetically pleasing. I'd make a recommendation, but I doubt you could order something you didn't like. They're known to have fantastic margarita's, and from experience I can say that they totally live up to that. The atmosphere is cute, the place is small but the decor is charming. Service is excellent, friendly and quick.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I've been coming here for years and everything is always superb. The servers are always friendly and efficient. Short waiting time. The atmosphere is beautiful. They have custom handcrafted tables and 3D artwork on the wall. During the Christmas season they string lights up. Gorgeous. The food is off the hook. #1 Mexican place around. The only thing that is so-so is the chocolate lava cake. Used to be my favorite but it tastes different now. I've had fajitas, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc and its all fantastic. If they have it, get the tres leches cake. It's worth the extra time in the gym!

I visited Plaza Garibaldi 15 years ago when I first moved to Glen Burnie and it was terrible so I have stayed away all these years. My boyfriend talked me into trying it again. It's under new management and boy have they turned the place around. I've been back 3 times in a month since re-trying it. I've had the tamale's, tacos (the shredded beef is the way to go) and their fajitas. All were amazing. Best guacamole I've ever had. So many people load it with unnecessary onions and tomatoes. They made it so the avocado was the primary thing you tasted. Another impressive point is the kid menu's have the normal staples. Cheese burgers and chicken tenders along with Mexican fare. That's usually a challenge for us when we are eating out with the kids because well my kids are really picky LOL. It's my new favorite place to eat in Glen Burnie.

Im a Pasadena native sooooo listen up! This is my favorite all Mexican spots - Been Coming since they opened Service - Great ..never had any complaints Food - Straight Up Crackalacka Drinks - Cheap on specials The food is so good here, the wait can be very very long. So be prepared for a wait on a Friday/Saturday night. They do a great job of keeping the place clean.

We finally came to this place for the first time, after being in the area for nearly 2 years. Previously turned Mi Pueblo into my stomping ground for good Tex-Mex, but I think I will have to add Plaza Garibaldi to the regular rotation! This food is SUPER delicious, the meat is flavorful, and the cheesy goodness is just right. I also like that you can get a version of refried black beans in vegetarian dish options instead of regular black beans. The only thing that I can say that's holding me back from 5 stars, is the portion sizes. They are absolutely probably what a normal person SHOULD eat in one sitting, but I usually like my meals to be spread out over two meals (sometimes three). With this place, I don't think that was exactly possible. So we ordered dessert (molten lava cake), and I ate a ton of free refillable chips, and mission was accomplished. Another plus, the wait to eat here wasn't nearly as long as the wait can be for Mi Pueblo. Another plus to come here more often. The molton lava cake was also amazing, by the way. I'd highly recommend it.

This was the first place my hubby and I found from our move from Southern California. This place has awesome fajitas... That's about it. I wasnt too impressed by their combination platters. The tacos weren't "authentic". Rather than frying up some tortillas for a crunchy taco I got taco bell shells. They didn't have my carne asada soft tacos with cilantro and onion. But... I will take what I can get in MD. I give them a 2 just for their fajitas.

  • Dana H.

I went there after seeing all the good reviews. I got a margarita and it was watered down. I am not from Maryland so i have nothing to compare it to here. But it was very bland, I have been to Mexican restaurants around the US and this one is my least favorite. I am giving it a 3 because the staff were great.

Have driven past this place so many times for many years and never even given it any thought about stopping in until a friend of mine wanted to eat here for dinner on his birthday. I must say that this is some of the best Mexican food I've had. The portions are pretty big, the service was excellent and I just can't stop eating the free salsa and chips. The prices are very reasonable and they have great drink specials, my wife is addicted to the margarita's. My only complaint is how crowded this place gets but can't fault this place for having excellent food.

I really enjoy the food here, but wish it wasn't so gringo oriented. Standard fare for any Mexican joint in town. You cater to your market though.

A TWO on the Maryland Mexican food grading curve. "Bienvenidos to Plaza Garibaldi," the sign beckoned as my wife and I entered. Because apparently the word "to" is exceptionally difficult in Spanish. Hint: the translation is "a". This wasn't a good omen. As we sat down, the waiter put a basket of surprisingly fresh tortilla chips in front of us and I thought that maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all. Then came the ketchup... er... salsa. I immediately turned my nose up to that and ordered pico de gallo instead. It was MUCH better than the "salsa", but I had to add salt, and it could have used some lime. Just a forewarning if you go this route: The pico is pretty spicy and is mostly jalepeno, so if you're not used to hot stuff, it may be a bit too much. For the entrees, I went with a beef burrito/chicken enchilada combo platter and the wife got the un-fried chimichanga (WTF?! The whole point in a chimi is that it is deep fried. Otherwise it's a burrito). The food came, and to be honest, I was initially pretty impressed. However, it went quickly down hill. The red sauce covering the burrito and enchilada tasted like jarred spaghetti sauce and although the shredded chicken wasn't bad, the beef didn't even taste like it was seasoned with Mexican spices. At this point, I moved on to the rice and beans which were surprisingly good. I even thought that perhaps this restaurant would merit 3 stars after all. Then I hit the bombshell. A landmine hidden in plain view... The beans were covered in a square of White American cheese. How I had not noticed until I tasted it, I will never know. By that point, its fate was sealed. There was no return. Check. Pay. Done.

Overall a disappointment service was good but the food seems over priced for the quality. I ordered the steak fajitas, the steak was tough and full of tought fat that was impossible to chew or cut. The menu said the dish came with tomato. I having been to many othe Mexican places expected diced tomato. What I ended up with was a single sliver of tomato butt. The hot cheese dip is a bit small for the price. I doubt we will go back. Tiem to find another mexican place close to home.

Plaza Garibaldi is an excellent place for a meal. Free salsa and chips with endless refills, the margaritas are good (I would always go for the top shelf alcohols as they are only a few dollars more!) and the options for food dishes are vast. I am somewhat of a pickey eatter at times and normally get the shrimp and rice, which ends up being something close to grilled shrimp with garlic and herbs. It is one of the most costly items on the menu but always good and filling. The grilled chicken breasts are huge and worth the less than $10 price. Everyone who's came here and ordered the burritos and the such, always have liked the freshness. This place can be busy, so be prepared on a weekend for a long wait.

I went here Saturday night and I have to say I was less than impressed. The service was terrible! We were seated near a waiter station and waited at least 5 minutes from being seated until we were approached by a waiter. And we only got our drinks orders in because someone overheard us inquiring to each other about where our waiter was. Then I sat with an empty tea glass for 5 minutes. When the waiter was finally at our table again, I asked for tea. I waited 10 minutes before he came back to see how things were. I asked again for the tea he never brought to begin with. It still took another 5 minutes to get my glass back. The food was tasty. I got the seafood burrito and I did find it good, just not phenomenal. I was impressed by the variety of options to choose from. As tasty as the food might have been, I won't be going back because there are other Mexican restaurants out there that are just as good and in some cases better that have much better service.

This place is outstanding! I used to live in Arizona and So. cal, I know great Mexican food- this place is the best we've found in the DC metro area! Good service, festive atmosphere. It's a hidden gem!

My girlfriend and I tried several different places to find a go-to Mexican place and this ended up being it. The prices are decent and the food is always pretty good. The drinks are enjoyable, especially if you splurge for the jumbo margarita. We will definitely be back many more times.

While visiting the D.C area I started craving some mexican food and everyone knows a cheddar chick from SoCal needs her mexican food even if it means going all the way out to Glen Burnie Maryland to get it. Great food, friendly staff, decent prices and a clean restaurant= repeat customer Yep, that's me. If you're looking for awesome mexican food in the D.C area stop looking, you won't find it. Trust me, I've tried. You're better off making the nice drive to Maryland. It's either that or drive all the way out to Cali. Take your pick. Thank god I have my own personal chauffeur!

The atmosphere, the service, the food, the margaritas, the carry out menu, the options, the coupons they offer monthly....everything gets a 5 from me. I am looking forward to our next visit.

Location: On Ritchie Highway, across from Marley Station Mall. If you're heading south on Glen Burnie, you'll have to make a U-turn at Americana Drive, so be careful! Don't be fooled by how empty the restaurant looks: parking is in the rear. Atmosphere: Your standard run-of-the-mill Mexican-themed restaurant. Nothing spectacular about the decor. Small, so gives you a cozy cantina feel (vs. chain restaurants like Don Pablo's or Chevy's). Service: Prompt waiter and friendly. I did have to search for him to get a refill on water, but all it took was a brief moment of eye contact and he was over right away with more water and lemon wedges (I like lemon in my water). Food: Since I am allergic avocado and don't eat beans or pork, it's difficult for me to LOVE Mexican food without all the traditional ingredients. I ordered a 2-item combo: chicken burrito, cheese quesadilla, and another serving of rice to replace the beans. The chicken burrito was pretty decent: you can tell it was freshly shredded chicken, although it was a little dry. The cheese quesadilla tasted like a grilled cheese sandwich: no seasonings, no variety of cheeses used, nothing.... The rice was good: standard Mexican rice. Ideally, it deserves 4 stars: budget-friendly, authentic-tasting Mexican food in a suburb between two major East Coast cities. But, given that I've had better Mexican food elsewhere, I will personally give it 3 stars.

More than any other restaurant in the Annapolis area (and there are a lot of wonderful ones!), this is the place where my husband and I are 'regulars'. The waitstaff is very friendly and accommodating---for example, even though the enchiladas on the a la carte portion of the menu says it comes with three, it's easy for me to order one or two depending on my appetite. The combo plates allow you to mix-and-match your favorites. I've never had a dish here that I didn't love. Fried beef chimichanga, enchiladas, tortilla soup, taquitos... oh, and don't forget their guacamole with the chips---it's some of the best I've had at a restaurant, plain and very delicious. They also bring a wonderful fresh salsa to the table with the chips when you sit down. Dishes that come with sour cream and guacamole come with a generous portion of both. There's a wide range of drinks available, including margaritas, an unusual array of sodas, iced tea, lemonade, wine, tequila, and sangria (so good that it's spoiled me for any other restaurant's sangria). The staff moves very quickly, but I've never felt rushed, even when the place was packed. They also aren't territorial about their tables unlike many restaurants, so if you look like you need something nearly anyone will drop by and find out what you need. Don't hesitate to flag any server down if you need something---they're probably the most consistently friendly waitstaff I've ever dealt with. The hard part is saving room for dessert---which I'm always determined to do, because they have a wonderful range of sweets. I go back and forth between flan and tres leches cake for my favorites, but I also have to try everything else once in a while because it's all so good. Do make sure that you have plenty of time when you go and don't mind standing around---most nights it's a popular restaurant, and you can end up standing in their waiting area for quite a while, particularly if they have birthday parties that night. In case you aren't familiar with the system, there's a stack of number placards just inside the door, so make sure you grab one to assure your place in line. You can avoid the long lines by going particularly early or sometimes by going on a Monday or Tuesday, when they're least busy.

I've been here a few times, and sometimes it's been pretty good, others not so much. I will never again order any of their steak dishes, as the steak is a very cheap cut, very tough and lots of fat. But their chicken dishes are pretty good...the pollo ranchero (which I had this past Friday) was very tasty, with grilled onions, peppers, and mushrooms smothered in melted cheese and served with rice & beans. As for "traditional" Mexican fare, the enchilada sauce is kind of bland and tastes like they use ketchup as the base, and their queso dip is pure white and runny, so I'd stay away from those. I'm also a bit confused about their chimichangas.....they'll ask if you want them baked or fried. Every other Mexican restaurant I've been to, chimi's are ALWAYS fried...if it's baked, it's just a burrito. But once you're past the question of how to cook it, the chimi is actually pretty good. I've seen some other reviews that really didn't like the salsa....I actually thought it was OK. Not too spicy, not too mild....it worked for me. As for dessert, the churros are pretty tasty, but skip the sopapillas. Since I haven't found many Mexican restaurants at all since moving to Annapolis, Plaza Garibaldi is "not bad". It's not nearly as good as some I've been to in Texas or even in Kansas City, but definitely not the worst I've had either. Just stay away from the steak. Yeah, I know I already said it, but it bears repeating. One other tip: Don't make the mistake of turning on the street beside the restaurant, thinking they'll have a back entrance into the lot....they don't. You have to enter the lot directly from the street. If you happen to be going south on Ritchie instead of north, you're going to have to make a u-turn to get into the lot. And be sure to turn into the side on the south side of the building, not the north, as the north side is actually the lot for another business and they kind of frown on you taking up their spaces.

I've been coming here since they opened and I've been a big fan the whole time. The food is consistently very good and so is the service. Can't complain about the drinks either. They've upgraded the exterior and the interior but they may need a larger building. There's a waiting line out the door weekends and quite often on weeknights as well.

Arrived just before 7 PM; just after the initial dinner crowd. Greeted with a smile and immediately seated. Ordered the Tortilla soup special, the Burrito Tapito and a Lime Margarita. Everything was great and the portions were huge. The only trouble I had experienced was I had a table in the back yet my waiter was attending most of the tables up front; not sure why. But by having his tables seperated caused my service to be a tad slow as he never had time to come back and check on me.

Excellent "authentic" Mexican restaurant. (As opposed to the Americanized "Tex-Mex" version of Mexican food that so many others seem to prefer.) The food here is fresh and delicious and the prices are very reasonable. If you find yourself looking for something to eat in southern Glen Burnie, do yourself a favor and stop by. I heartily recommend it. I've been here several times over the past 10 years and everything I've ever had has been delicious.

The food has gone downhill over the years. It's not that it's bad, I don't know exactly what it is... Oh yes I do, grease! Everything is sooo greasy. I bit into a quesadilla and grease literally squirted everywhere. I prefer Mi Pueblo. I would return to Plaza if they weren't so greasy.

Authentic and excellent. Portions were huge and tasted incredible. Everything was hot, crisp and fresh as it was supposed to be.

I enjoy this restaurant. There's definitely better Mexican Places around, but it's still pretty good and sort of a Glen Burnie Staple. My biggest problem was the queso dip. I should have been alarmed when I asked the waiter about it and he told me it was made of "White cheese" stuttering at the "cheese." I found out when it arrived that he had really stopped himself from saying "American Cheese." It was literally a bowl of melted, American cheese, nothing else. Not even any seasoning. There was even a little film on the top. I had two bites and couldn't eat any more. I had the chimichanga which was good, and my husband liked his tacos. I've been back there once or twice and enjoyed it. I stay away from the queso dip.

Great place to eat! Great authentic food and cheap prices! I've eaten here several times and will continue to do so. Friendly staff and a cute atmosphere. Has been recently updated. I highly recommend the queso dip and chicken nachos....NOT TO MENTION THE GUACAMOLE!- they're all appetizers but the portion is huge!

I love this place - I passed it for years without trying it and I can't believe what I was missing! Great food, service and atmosphere with reasonable prices. It's always packed so others must agree!

The restaurant is clean and the waitstaff work hard. But the food was only okay, I wanted it to be better. I wouldn't go back. Los Portalas on Aviation BLVD is better food. I wish there was a New Mexican restaurant around.

The wait service was terrible today. I notice some inconsistency with their customer service. Our food was good. I got the steak fajitas this time instead of chicken. They were great. I did notice that they only give one free refill with their sodas any sodas after the inital and first refill cost money.

Much better now that it was 5 years ago. Boy, it was awful. It has come a long way but it's still way Americanized versions of Mexican food. Some folks seem to like it though as it was packed when I went. Because of that I felt rushed to get out. The way the dining area is laid out it makes you feel even more cramped. I would go back at a more off peak time though I prefer more authentic food.

Last night we decided to check it out for the first time and we're never going back. Drive the few extra blocks to Mi Pueblo. The bad: No joke, Plaza Garibaldi's salsa tasted like they mixed it with ketchup. I'm positive their "salsa" is 50% ketchup and cilantro. That alone was enough for my husband to refuse to come back. He was also saddened that there was no hot sauce to be found at the table. The restaurant was loud, and the tables very close together. You can see how much the servers love getting through those tiny aisles. You're supposed to take a number when you come in to get a table.. odd, but not a problem..except there's no sort of indication anywhere to let you know to do this. Just a mini stack of numbers on the bar. It was some poor busboy's job to wander by every few minutes to make sure people actually picked up a number. Service wasn't great.. empty chip basket and cups. The one drink I managed to get sat empty the entire meal. They don't even list drinks at all on their menu, maybe they hate beverages! ;) There wasn't much outside the standard fare either. The good: Probably the best basic taco I've had here, but nothing to scream about. My husband preferred the chori pollo here but it didn't make up for the rest. Jalapeno poppers were tasty, but expensive. And then one undecided.. my tamale was HUGE. The end portions were like one inch cubes of old polenta.

This is, by far, the only descent Mexican Food in MD. My Husband and I grew up in Phoenix and lived in Tucson and Southern California for years. It's good even by Arizonan and Californian standards. The Garibaldi and California Burrito are great. Rice and Beans are good. Chips and Salsa are good. We actually went on a search for the best Mexican in MD and ended up trying Los Portales, Mi Hacienda, and Mi Casita based on reviews--we just went down the list of the top reviewed places. Funny enough, each ended up being Plaza Garibaldi's with basically identical menus. We tried El Toro Bravo, which had a similar but different menu. It's certainly the black sheep if its related--and was one of the worst we've tried in MD. Plaza Garibaldi is still my favorite of the chain, with Mi Hacienda second. El Monterey is probably the best non Plaza Garibaldi we've tried. At least we think it's not part of the chain. The only problem is that no one in MD knows how to make an authentic Chimichanga. Everyone in MD sales two small burritos with a soft or fried option. In Arizona and California, you would be laughed at ordering a soft (non-fried) chimi. That would be a burrito. Real Chimi's are large and overstuffed with shredded beef or chicken, always fried, sometimes with enchilada and/or queso sauce, but always with lettuce or cabbage and diced tomato on the side, always with sour cream, guacamole, sometimes with olive slices. Let me know if you see one of these in MD. (Red sauce = beef, Green sauce = chicken... In MD, I've actually seen red sauce on chicken!).

We have been to the Plaza probably 25 times in the past 3 years. Maybe the most consistent regular place we've ever been. Food is great. Margaritas are great. Service is also great and professional and friendly. And more than anything, its the cozy atmosphere that we like the most. The kids love it too.

OK, don't be alarmed that it is near Marley Station Mall or that it looks like it is in an old fast food location (which it is). This place has interesting decor and the best tamales that I have ever had (and I try the tamales everywhere I go). It might look a little cheesy at first, but you'lll enjoy your dinner. The margaritas are good too, and I would recommend getting the ones with better liquor in them as they are totally worth it (I get the largest size available too). Without the alcohol, this place is cheap and yummy. Even the drinks are reasonable. Also be prepared to use your Spanish speaking skills or reiterate or speak slowly to the waiters as almost everyone there speaks Spanish (with English as a distant second). Everyone is very nice and very eager to please.

Another Hidden Gem across from marley mall and kind of a hidden entrance (easy to miss). This is true authentic Mexican food. They have a decent size menu. But the food is great. Must try if you like mexican.

Went in to Plaza Garibaldi with low expectations.. they met them and shined a bit. Typical Mexican place all around. 'Rita's are watered down but not too expensive.. just get beer. Went with "La Mejor" burrito looked like it should but the 3 stars is for the quality of the beef. It tasted like was out of a can.. not even as good as Taco Bell's "Institutional Grade" (Read: Grade D) meat. So.. get the chicken... Wife got the Fajitas, they were good but at 13 bucks... nothing to write home about. Go to El Toro Bravo, it's worth the drive.

This is my go to Mexican restaurant and restaurant in general when it comes to the Glen Burnie area. I've been here more times than I can count or remember. Wait times are usually non-existent unless you come during a weekend evening in which case you might wait 10-15 minutes for a table to open up. The waiting system is poor and can be confusing if you've never visited before and they don't make much of an effort to clear it up. The food is always good. I usually stick with the two beef burrito meal with rice and beans and it's consistently delicious. The free chips and salsa is great, one of my favorite salsas of any Mexican restaurant I've been to and the chips come out nice and warm and fresh. Service is hit or miss. It is what it is and it can be confusing at times but usually they do a good job. Keep it simple and you won't have any issues.

I was craving Mexican food for a few months and finally decided to try this place after reading reviews and hearing good things about it.... So I went with high expectations only to be sadly disappointed! The server was not friendly, the tostada I had could not even stand up to the ones at "taco villa" (Mexican fast food)! Although I was pleasantly surprised at how good the chile relleno was! (the only good part of the visit) the prices were very reasonable!

If you are a vegetarian, run in front of a bus before taking the opportunity to eat here. Wait, it would not be an opportunity, it would be a punishment for some crime from your last life as a concentration camp guard. I can't speak to the meat, as that is not my interest. But I do drink and I can say that the margaritas at PG are just that, PG. I like my drinks to taste like there is alcohol in them, rated R for RARIN' to go! This was my last, and I mean LAST experience with PG: The g/f and I go in and are sat off in the corner. This place is so out of control, you never know who your waiter is, because people just keep showing up asking you questions or looking at you in that strange "I was born yesterday" mode. For example, the g/f asks what reds they have. The guy is put into orbit on this one. "Red?" we could see him wondering. "It is a color or a kind of mushroom?" He pointed to the menu and said Chardonnay. Well, we all know that is not a red wine. She asked if they had a merlot or cab or shiraz. He just pointed to the menu. Oh, they have sangria. I piped up and said, "I hear you have margaritas here!" At this he turned his head and stared out the window... no lie. I had to answer my freaking self. "Ah, YES, you do! I'll have a Cadillac." My g/f ordered the same. Terrible drinks, when they finally came. This was the third time I had been there, having margies each time, and each time being sorry I did. Being vegetarians, we asked if the beans had lard. "Yes. No. No lard. I will go ask. No." The problem I have had every time here is that the entire employed staff of PG speaks almost NO English. It is a struggle whenever you want something. If any of the other reviews talk about Mexican authenticity, the language barrier is probably what they mean, because the food is not, and like another reviewer, I was born and bred in So Cal, where you get the best food out of the back of someone's van on the corner. We took a chance with the beans and ordered a combo of quesadilla, burrito, and enchilada. $10.00 I can't even explain without resorting to violence how bad this shit was. BAD, dudes, BAD. On one plate by itself was a small flour tortilla filled with melted cheese slices. Disgusting, took one bite and set it aside. On another plate, was another flour tortilla filled with a few spoonfuls of brown carbon-based paste that resembled a bad case of the whiskey shits. Next to it was a corn tortilla filled with the aforementioned melted cheese slices. Poured over the top, and this is the truth by the name of Jehovah, was marinara sauce with all the requisite herbs and tomato chunks. No garnish, just two repulsive tubes of food substitute and a brick of Kraft slices melted in a tortilla. When our server finally came back, and there were literally three bites of food taken, he asked if we were done and took what we could not have eaten with a sound mind. He never questioned the fact that the food wasn't touched, because he probably needed to get outside to get his hit off the joint the 'cooks' were passing around. We handed him our credit cards and said to split it. That started a conference by the kitchen as the concept of 'medio' (sp: half) was utterly lost on these people. Then people kept coming over asking if we needed anything. The answer was unequivocally "Yes, our CREDIT CARDS BACK." Some other rants : The 'queso dip' is beyond dysfunctional. It was like yellow milk with we think flour in it. Not sure still, but will never go back to find out. If you are just there to do a crossword puzzle and have a margie, bring a translator. The phrase, "can I have my check please" magically manifests another margarita at your table. The best thing about the place is the painting on the wall when you walk in. It depicts a giant with a sombrero rising from behind a pyramid to eat these poor mariachi singers.

I have been to this place on a few occasions. the first time i was quite a bit younger and i was with a friend and his dad, i did not have the kind of taste that i have today so with that in mind i have to say that this place is very good. the first time i went i was about 11 or 12 and i believe that i got a chicken fajita. at that time like i said food was not something that i got excited about but in retrospect i realize that they had it all right. When you want a fajita what do you expect meat, onions, bell peppers, and Mexican seasonings (simple and delicious) they got it right for sure. Since then not much has changed in my opinion, i go for the tamales and i have to say that they are very tasty although i do prefer a green sauce (Chile Verde) over the red sauce that they put on them, but none the less they are very Delicious. The inside is small (not alot of open areas) but they have plenty of booths to accommodate they have some nice artwork on the walls and they keep to the culture. All the cooks that i have seen are Hispanic of some sort. Which is good for me as i know that it is not some American or European cook trying to foo foo up something that should remain simple, to the point and flavorful. If your out for a quality, down to earth Mexican dinning experience this is the place. They have the kinds of things i look for, good food, good prices, and of course a full bar to wash it all down with.

Best Mexican food in the area. And its cheap! I grew up in Southern California, 1.5 hours away from the border, I grew up with real, authentic Mexican food and moving to the east coast was so disappointing, in terms of Mexican food. Yes, Chipotle is good but no, it is not real Mexican food, and its overpriced. This is the first place that somewhat resembles food back home. While the vegetarian section is a bit small, 5 choices, those 5 choices are fantastic. I love Plaza Garibaldi so much. If you want good, authentic, and cheap Mexican food head over here

When I lived in Glen Burnie I practically lived here cos' the food is so good! Cadillac margaritas are soooo dangerously good! I liked how the place was always full of Latino families, always a good sign. When I moved I would still drive half an hour just to get their amazing tamales. This place is cheap without booze with big portions of great food! Can I go back now please?

Plaza Garibaldi is a great place to go for Mexican food. The atmosphere is great. The walls are filled with Mexican art and the colors fit the southwest theme nicely. The booths are comfortable and extremely roomy. Walking in and getting a table is sort of tricky as they have no designated host(ess) to come and seat you. You come into the take out portion of the restaurant and have to wait by a corner to be seated while a ton of waiters(tresses) walk by without really explaining what's going on. The food was great. My wife got the Garibaldi Special (like an open burrito without the beans/rice with one beef and one chicken taquito)and I got the Garibaldi Burrito (rice, beans, chicken or beef covered with an enchilada sauce). My wife didn't like her Special that much as it just seemed a little blah without much taste. On the other hand, my burrito was fantastic. It's pretty big as well (slightly bigger than a Chipotle burrito for reference) so I had to take the last fourth of it home. They serve drinks (especially good margaritas) and take credit cards. This is a great place to take someone to. The service is fast and friendly and they are polite. The pricing is pretty good too as we payed a little over twenty dollars for the aforementioned food and a coke. Check it out!

Good food, not much different from it's sisters Los Portales (near BWI) and El Toro Bravo (Annapolis), so if you've been to one of those or one of them is closer to you, you're not missing anything here... but, definitely check out one of them. Although I'm more of a fan of more exotic Mexican fare and these restaurants are fairly mild and gringo friendly by my standards, I'm always pleased with their food... as are many Mexican people that I know.

I have to say that I really like this place. I have known about it for about a year now, and I go often enough that they know me and what I am going to order. I don't live exactly close; it is about 15 minutes from me in good traffic but I find any excuse to come over that way around lunch or dinner. After living in AZ and CO and then moving out here decent Mexican food is hard to find I mean decent as in not Chevy's, On The Border, or any of those other chain places...there is a reason why sometimes when you come in your going to have to wait....it is because the food is just that good. I have tried many things on the menu and have never been disappointed, the service is sometimes a bit on the slow side but they are always really friendly and the food makes up for where the service lacks. It is good for families and kids as I have taken both my children and they like it too. I have never had anything from the bar so can't comment on that. Overall you get what you pay for and I never leave hungry.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
